Ice bar and Winter Wonderland

On Saturday we has a lazy morning before heading into town. We went to Winter Wonderland first. It wasn't as packed as last year but still really busy. We got some food and went to the rotating bar for a drink (we enjoyed it last year so why not?).

At the carousel bar.

Snuggly warm
It was pretty cold. Kerry at least was super warm in her new coat.
There was only so much time we could spend at Winter Wonderland, if you are not interested in drinking very large amounts or going on rides. And Kerry wanted to look for some ear muffs (we didn't find any). Oxford street was insane so we found a pub on a side road.

This year we planned better and got tickets for the ice bar. We got there early so had a drink in the war bar first before getting caped up.

The glasses are hollowed out ice cubes. It didn't feel that cold; we only really needed the gloves because of the ice glasses. For our first drink Kerry and I opted for the Moet while Craig went with cocktail. (I switched to a cocktail for the second drink.) You are only in there for 40 mins but it was fun. Especially when the rowdy group of middle aged women quieten down and left.

Just to show that curiosity runs in the family, Kerry and Craig decided to experiment with the structural integrity of the glass once we were done. They did not hold up well under the "Hulk smash!" technique. You can't take them anywhere! :)

Way down.

After the ice bar we ended up at the cinema. Craig and I wanted to see the Justice League film but Kerry is not a fab. We enjoyed it. Kerry was asleep within 10 mins. But she said it was a good nap!
After we headed back to mine for a take-away.
They had to leave early this morning due to the heavy snow up their way. We haven't had much down here (quite disappointing!) but it sounds like travels has been insanely affected down here anyway.
It was a great weekend and I am finally starting to feel a little more christmassy. :)

Glow Wild

This weekend Kerry and Craig came down to visit. They arrived on the Friday afternoon and we headed to Lakehurst Place for the Glow Wild event. We got there just in time for our time slot, thanks to chaos on the M23. I hate London traffic.

Thankfully we were all prepared and dressed warm. The path followed the same as last year with different lights. It was a woodland animal theme this year.

On the lake.

Each group gets a lantern to carry around. Kerry was very attached to this'd would only let us hold it for short times. :)
The pond had fire lanterns along it and played Chinese style gong music. It was very pretty.

Kerry decided the mole needed a lantern hat.

We planned to eat before but got there with only a few minutes to share so eat at the end, with mulled wine and a mince pie. The drive back was much nicer and celebrated back at mine with a few glasses of wine.

Cotswolds Zoo with Friends

I spent last weekend in the Cotswolds with Matt, El, Clare and little baby Olivia. We couldn't go to our usual cottage but found a really good alternative. On the Saturday we went to the Cotswolds Zoo. All for Olivia of course, even though she slept through most of it. The adults however loved it. The weather was hit and miss but they had little shelters from the drizzle and we had umbrellas.
The best bit was at the start. Rhinos. And there was a baby! Baby Alan was born 13th September so roughly the same age as Olivia.

Baby Alan
They came so close! There was just a little wall and ditch and they went into the ditch to snacks. Little Alan had some issues get out though; it was a bit slippy.

Olivia was a bit confused by them.
Next was the giraffe and they were inside by the viewing platforms, having lunch so we got really close to them.

Not sure how impressed she is.

I really recommend this zoo. They have big enclosures and lots of animals. And many I have never heard of.

Yawn.

Matt attempted the kids play ground but gave up.
We lucked in and were in time for the penguin feeding. There was one little cute one who was playing the clown, swimming on his side, waving his flipper and splashing. The Happy feet of the bunch.

food! food!

We spent the evening at the cottage watching a movie and playing with the baby.

Yes we dressed her up.
Sunday we went to Bourton-on-the-water for a walk around and lunch. One shop was packed so Matt and I stayed outside with the buggy so we entertained ourselves.
