Chestnut Sunday

Thankfully we get a lie in on Sunday morning. Sunday was the Chestnut Parade inBushy Park. I did go last time so we grabbed the blanket and got a place by the parade route.

Waiting.
There were a lot of military bikes and cars, as well as a parade of old cars which made Craig quite happy.

This dog was loving life.

Old taxi.
Banger!
There were also some interesting bicycles.

We walked through Bushy Park into Hampton Court and started to over heat. We wanted to find a deli to get a picnic, but that prove surprisingly hard in Hampton Court. I had expected to find quite a few but there was nothing. We eventually found a grocery store with enough to make us happy and a shady spot to have a picnic.

Starving.

Ham House

Mom and Dad finally got down to visit last weekend. The weather was pretty rubbish but we still got out. On Saturday we went to Ham House for a look around.

They had a lot of the costumes from a TV series called Stitch in Time, which none of us has ever seen. But there were impressive.

Camouflage.

Night dress - glad fashion has changed.
Unfortunately the upper floors were still closed for the winter so we could only see half the house. The gardens were open and they had a nice little shop and second hand bookshop (which I managed to escape with only 2 books - that's self-control!)

Dad impressed by the trees.

Snake guard.
Mom investigating the bathroom.
On the evening we went out for a belated birthday celebration. But I was too busy talking, eating and drinking to take any photos.

Deer in Bushy Park

It's been a hell of a week and I spent most of Saturday sleeping and trying to sort out my fridge freezer which died on Thursday. (I should be getting a new one in about 10 days - I hate renting!)
Anyway, the weather was nice (though windy and cold) so I went for a walk to the coffee shop in Bushy Park. I love photographing the deer in the park so took my big camera.

I really wanted to photograph the deer in the bracken. I had a few photos in mind but deer don't exactly that direction. However they were happy to pose for my today.

Spotted.
Doubled spotted.

Hello?
That's what he think of my paparazzi.

They were starting to head towards which made me nervous. I am sure they are quite docile but I have seen them have a go at each other with those antlers. I left and went to the cafe. (I needed to defrost as well as I forgot my gloves.)

Woodland park around the cafe

It didn't turn out quite as planned as everyone else seemed to have had the same idea and it was packed so I ended up outside. But at least I had a cup of tea and a piece of millionaires shortcake.

Headed home
There were more deer on the way back home. So I dug out my camera again.

I love the pose.

This guy just posed for ages.

I spent the rest of the day cooking, trying to use up as much as I could out of my fridge and freezer. I have been eating like a queen this weekend - I had fillet steak etc in there. I also did some baking to se up the eggs and butter so the guys at work will be happy tomorrow.
