Treyarnon

For the couple of the days left near Padstow, we headed to Treyarnon beach early afternoon, after a relaxed morning and a trip somewhere for lunch.

Treyarnon is a lovely beach and was easy for mom to walk down to. And Dad likes swimming there. Mom and I paddled but it was a bit too cold still.
On the first evening we stayed a bit later and headed up to the YHA centre for dinner.

Dad headed off to photograph the sunset. I took a few photos but the bugs were getting annoying and starting to eat me so mom and I ended up in the car waiting.

Lizard point

We were staying not far from Lizard point, which is the mostly southerly point of mainland England. The views are great and it was another gorgeous day.

Walking to the point

Of course it is part tourist attraction and is a national trust area.

Dad and I walked down and then dad decided he could get mom down in the wheel chair. So I went for a walk down to the bottom of the cliffs while he did that. (Apparently it was a rocky trip as the path is quite steep. Both were very relieved that they down it.) They stopped near the top and enjoyed the view.

At the bottom is a derelict coast guard and lifeboat launch.

Back at the top we enjoyed a drink and snack in the sun.

On the last day we stopped off a few times on the way back to the caravan near Padstow. First stop was a 'bakery' with artisan bread. It turned out to be a stall by the side of the road with an honesty box. While we were having a look, the baker himself came out, looking like a classic french baker (with a Cornwall accent). He had some more loaves in the oven and invited us in to have a look (mom stayed in the car). I love Cornwall for this. He basically just invited 2 complete strangers into his house.
We brought 3 loaves and some flat jack and I have been told they were amazing. (I was quite jealous I couldn't eat it though I did sample a little.)

On the way back we stopped briefly at a beach (I can't remember the name) for a break and an ice-cream.

Puerto de la Cruz

On Sunday I had a bit of a lazy day. I wandered around town and the botanical gardens for a few hours but also managed to sleep in. Much needed.

Puerto de la Cruz bay
The town
The gardens were ok but honestly I think there are better things to do in Puerto. They are by the road so not very peaceful and quite small. But if you have a few hours to killed, not bad and cheap.

Taking over
Big tree

After the gardens I tackled the stairs again. I hurt my knee earlier last week and it is now an interesting shade of blue and black. And stairs (and yesterday) did not help. It was killing me by the time I got to the bottom. But thankfully there was a ice-cream place at the bottom to cheer me up. Though it turned out a little bigger than I was expecting.
Enormous ice-cream
The beach is ok in Puerto. And popular with the surfers. Not sure I would try surfing there considering the number of rocks in the bay.
The beach
Because of said rocks, they also have a very nice looking pool area which was mostly deserted when I was there but then the wether was not really swimming/sunbathing weather.
Pool
I walked/limped around for a bit, mainly trying to find the trim stop for Loro Parque for the next morning. It is pretty place and worth a visit.

And another beach
Feeling Christmassy now
I wimped out and got a taxi back to the apartments. And then begged the lovely lady at the pool bar for a bag of ice. I spent the set of the afternoon, reading on the balcony with the ice on my knee. I also managed to find real fresh milk! I have only been able to get long life which works in tea but is just not good to drink. I drank so much milk with weekend.  :)
Chilling out.
