Cornish Birds of Prey Centre

On Thursday, I finally got a GF cream tea! I was so happy. I thought I would end up leaving without one. I am definitely going back there! And the view wasn't bad either.

Good morning view
As you can see, the weather wasn't brilliant. And I think I had exhausted mom and dad by this point. (I think I have lost the ability to relax on holiday. I am so used to fitting in as much fun stuff into my very few days off. Hopefully with the job, that will all change.)
We had a lazy morning and then went to the Cornish Birds of Prey centre which was nearby. It was smaller than screech, which we went to  the last time I was down here. But it was cute.

Hello
Golden Eagle
Harris hawk
The handler had a little issue with the hawk. First he wouldn't come back. And when he did, he decided he liked the look of a passing duck. And went for lunch.
The duck did not make it.

He was just hungry
Once that had been cleared up and the duck finally put out of her misery, the hawk started his demo flight.

Serious claws

I can't remember what he said the second bird was, but he was a very agile flier. And startled mom when he flew very close.

Got it!

They had some other animals as well. I brought a bag of animal food for them. But only the shetland ponies seemed interested.
Shetland pony!

They also had some parrots. They started saying "hello" as soon as I entered the area which freaked me out as I was the only one in there. It took a little for me to figure it out! One of the others just laughed. Then they started wolf whistling at me. It was really creepy so I left after a few photos.

We stayed for a coffee (well, hid in the cafe out of the cold) and went to the last flying demo.

Incoming!

Messy eater

In the last demo, he flew the golden eagle. That thing is huge! Apparently most places won't fly them - they are too unpredictable and the handler was told not to take this eagle as he was a bit of an attitude. Which he showed when the handler tried to take the bait away and take he back inside. He did not like that!

He did get a nice rat at the end to say well done.

Back at the caravan (after a panic when the heating wouldn't turn on and had to get the gas bottle changed), we had a seafood afternoon snack.

For my last night, mom and dad booked a meal out. (It was supposed to be a surprise but mom blabbed.) It was really nice.
Enjoying our last dinner
