Chinese New Year

Thanks to lots of work things have been pretty quiet recently. So I decided to celebrate Chinese New Year this week and cook for mom, dad, Kerry and Craig. I even got a New Year packet off Amazon to decorate!

I only put a pound in each of the Red Envelopes (giving money in red envelopes is supposed to be for good luck and prosperity) but then I am currently between jobs.

The food (thanks to Gok Won's amazing cookbook - I highly recommend it) went down very well. When I started to take the photo, there was food on the table. It got snacked up pretty quick and very bit of it disappeared. I had to be quick to get some myself.
There was food there a second ago!
Colorful and tasty.
Seriously, Gok's book is brilliant and very easy. Much easier than the meal I cooked last weekend which took over 3 hours!
Desert wasn't quite so Chinese, but Mom made it from James Martin's cookbook so was always going to be amazing! And it really was. :)
Utterly un-Chinese desert but so good!
We finished with Fortune cookies. I had 2, both of which said I was going to find my true love. (No one else got one like that and one of mine has come true before.) We'll see! And occupied with some plum wine. I do love Amazon. Now I just need to get all the sesame seeds up from the kitchen. I kind of got them everywhere. Oops! :)
