Bodmin and Beaches

The weather improved towards the end of the week (and has apparently been great while my parents stayed down there and I had to come back up here for work - figures!). So we spent a lot of the last 3 days on the beach chilling out.

Harlyn beach.
On Friday morning we had to go into Bodmin so dad could get his earring aid fixed. So we went to Bodmin Jail for an hour. It was ok but they are converting a wing into a hotel (in a jail - it takes all sorts) so there wasn't much to see.

On bath every 3 months.
The wax figures were really creepy.

After that we went back t the beach. A few of the days it was quite windy. The blanket we used got buried. In fact when I opened it at the park yesterday, it appears I brought back a beach in the blanket.

We spent the evenings chilling out.
I already miss my tent, watching the birds shadows as they sat on the guide ropes singing in a morning. But I have to work so drove back on Saturday evening to avoid traffic.

Boat trip

We booked to go on a 2hr boat trip on the Wednesday from Padstow. The weather was ok in the morning, though get very nice in the afternoon.
The boat set off from Padstow and spent the next 2 hrs going along the coast looking for puffins, seals, and dolphins amongst others.

I tried to get them to be serious
Looking over to Rock.
Padstow.
At sea.

We did see some puffins and seals. I tried to take photos but the puffins were way too fast and the ones of the seals just didn't come out. They would pop up and watch us but by the time I got the camera focused on them, they disappeared.

Puffin Island (hint: that's where we saw the Puffins)
Gamblers folly.
Tin mines.

Port Issac.
After the boat trip we had lunch in Padstow and headed to Trevose Head. We thought about going for a walk but really couldn't work up the energy. So dad and I put a blanket out and had a nap/read a book. (Mom stayed in the car but did the same.)
Someone had written a message in rocks on the lower level.

Trelissik and Trerice

The weather was rubbish on Tuesday so we hit some National Trust houses. We headed to Trelissik first but I think the best part of it was the gardens. We didn't feel like seeing them in the rain. The house needed some work. They only took it over recently so have strict it back and you can only go into about 4 rooms.
Still I would not complain if I had this view.

View from the front room.
Conservatory
Great view over the estuary.
Frankly after about 30 minutes, we were done. Though we did enjoy a very nice coffee and cake break.
So we headed to another one called Trerice, another house and gardens.

They had a really cool display of armour which you could pick up and look at.

The weather improved a little towards to the end and we had a wonder around the gardens. The wild flowers were very pretty, though mom and dad did 'borrow' some seeds. They are trying a wild flower garden out the front at home and are constantly looking for more seeds.

Walk on the Cliffs

A few weeks ago I went on holiday, back down to Cornwall. This time I was camping. I enjoyed the tent more than I thought I would. The weather could have been better but it could have been worse. We spent the Saturday getting food etc and had Sunday lunch on the Sunday. (We never do much else when we have Sunday lunch.)
Monday we went for a walk starting at Trevon head.

Trying to steal more seeds for their wild flower garden.
Windy.
At one point, dad and I headed down the cliffs to the ocean. Mom stayed at the top.

And we found a smugglers tunnel. It was very cool. We headed in using iPhone torches so it wasn't great. We couldn't get very fair inside as the floor had collapsed at one point about 10m in but we could see the tunnel continuing the other side.
I guess it could have been a tunnel for the tin mines that pocket the area, but I am going to say it was a smugglers tunnel. More fun that way.

Tunnel entrance.

The Style was bigger than mom!
