Day at the seaside

On the Sunday before I began my mammoth trip back down to London, we went to Lytham-St-Anns and the beach. There is a cute little pond and garden, off the sea front. We had a walk around and spotted baby ducks.
Into the cave!
Baby ducks.
We headed to the arcade where Katherine, Phillip and Joseph are collecting tickets. Joseph is a pro at the game and wracked up 200 tickets!

Playing bowling.
Squirting fish
We walked along the pier to the end. It was quite cool so there weren't many people on the beach. And the sea was out in the far distance. It looks a lot warmer than it was.

My friends and gorgeous nephew.
After a walk, we had lunch and got me the train station. Instead of the 3 hrs and 3 trains it normally takes, it took 2 buses and 4 trains and over 7 hrs. It was a rather circuitous route where the guy at the final barrier told me my ticket wasn't valid but I nearly started crying so he let me through.
I spent the bank holiday Monday chilling out and sleeping!

Barrows and Bikes

I am slowly catching up on my May adventures. The bank holiday weekend, I headed up to Preston to see Katherine and family. In hind sight that was not the best weekend to travel as most of the trains were cancelled on the Sunday and it took me over 7 hrs to get home but it was a good weekend. On the Saturday, Katherine, Joseph and I headed to Scorton to see their Bikes and Barrows festivals (actually what is says on the tin). We got there for opening as we had to be back for 1.30pm. Turns out most things didn't open until later but we did wonder around and see the displays.

Spot the bike.
Panda-monia.
The red barrows - our favourite
Guess the Queen song.
Hairy Bikers tribute.
After a wonder we found a play ground for Joseph (and therefore often us) to run around.

Giggles.
I gave Joseph the giggles trying to catch his feet on the swing and he got the hiccups. I tried to feel bad about his but he is so damn cute!

We stopped briefly at the birds but Joseph was more interested in the hill for some reason.

In the afternoon we meet up with Tricia (I haven't seen her in a few years) and then went for Joseph's swim class. He is so good.

Donkey Sanctuary

A few weeks ago, I spent the weekend with Matt, El, Clare and Olivia in Oxford. The cottage we rented was again a lovely place and thankfully not as hidden as the last place. On the Saturday we went into Oxford to look around. The weather was cold and miserable so we had lunch, went to Primark (Olivia get a Mikey Mouse out of me - she looked so happy when she saw him!) and then headed home.
On Sunday before heading home, we found a donkey sanctuary.

Nice donkey.

Olivia was a little cautious at first but seemed to enjoy.

There wasn't much there but we had look around at the donkeys (though a few were getting quite amorous so we moved on quickly before there could be any awkward questions from little people).

Few days on the beach

Towards the Easter Bank Holidays, the weather just went amazing. So we spent the last few days on the beach.

Treyarnon.
Trevose
Treyarnon again
And the weather was also good enough for the best evenings outside enjoying life.

Last night.

Trevose Head

The next we just could not decide what we wanted to do. All 3 of us were just useless. So we headed back to Trevose head and Dad and I took a walk in the other direction to the lighthouse.

The headland

We had a long discussion with no conclusion on which bays these were
Seat at the end of the point.

Being pensive.
After we got back Dad went off for a walk and I had a nap in the car. Though I did have to go hunt him up afterwards as he disappeared. Again the evening was finished with dinner and wine in the sun.

Trevose to Boobies and Constantine

The weather slowly started to improve but was still cold so we decided on another walk, this time from Trevose head to Boobies bay. (Yes it is really called that.) We parked up near the lighthouse and had a packed lunch. (I got  flash for my birthday - old I know but seriously so useful!)

Best view over lunch for a while.

The walk was very nice, along the cliffs beaches.

Giant pothole

The plan was to go to Boobies bay but we really should learn to check the tides and it was under water. So we continued onto Constantine Bay. The decision may have also been influenced by the fact there were toilets down there and an ice-cream truck. So we continued and sat on the beach for a while with ice-creams and hot drinks. (Don't knock it until you have tried it!)

Headed back
We did end up waking a little further than planned, a fact mom disliked intensely.

But once home, we chilled out in the last of the days sun with dinner and a nice glass of wine.
